So blessed

When I was pregnant with Dalton I had a gall bladder attack. Fortunately, I was at my mom's house and she gave me meds and I felt better within a few hours. This past Saturday night I started having an attack and I knew what it was right away. I took pain meds, drank lots of water, and laid down waiting for the pain to stop. Well, it didn't. Wouldn't you know this would happen when Nate was out of town?! Ugh.

After twelve hours of pain...if you have ever had a gall bladder attack then you know the pain I am talking about. If I had not had this issue before then I would have thought it was a heart attack. Terrible pain. Anyway, at 5:30 Sunday morning I finally decided I needed to quit being stubborn and ask for help.

I texted one of our babysitters to see if she could come sit with the boys. She did...and her mom came and got me and took me to the hospital. Remember, Nate was out of town. Beth, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I got to the ER and did the initial paperwork and within an hour I was on morphine and feeling a little better. They did an ultrasound and discovered gall stones. The surgeon explained what was going on and said he was admitting me to the hospital to have surgery the next morning.

So, Monday morning I had my gall bladder removed.

I am home now...I am still pretty sore and don't really have much of an appetite BUT I have been so blessed by people that are willing to love on my boys and help me.

I am not supposed to lift over 10 lbs for atleast a week. Well, Dalton weight 20 lbs and even though he is mobile, he isn't walking which means I have to pick him up.

Nate and I have been so blessed by a loving church family and our extended families! I could go on and on listing all the details of the ways people have loved on us.

Thanks to those of you that prayed for us!!!

Dreams

Ok, so this might be the weirdest blog post ever but it's been on my mind all day and I can't shake it.

I laid down with Dalton for a few minutes during naptime. I laid there long enough to doze off and have this dream...

Nathan and I were somewhere that I don't know. It wasn't a place that I am familiar with. There is quicksand all over the ground but for some reason he isn't sinking. I, on the other hand, can't stay grounded and I start sinking...quickly. There is nothing for me to grab on to so my only option is to sink. All I can hear is him saying, "Oh no. Oh no. Oh no." Then his voice was gone...and I woke up. I was a littly clammy and my heart was beating 1000 miles a minute. Ok slight exaggeration but I was freaking out. Dalton was sound asleep so I just laid there for a minute and tried to calm down.

What does it mean??? It was on my mind all day...sinking. quicksand.

After trying to figure it out on my own I decided to look it up online. You know Google has ALL the answers and NONE of them are exaggerated or crazy!! =)

Sinking
To dream that you or something is sinking suggests that you are feeling overwhelmed. Someone or something is pulling your down. You may be experiencing low self-esteem and confidence. Alternatively, the dream means that some important and significant stage in your life may be coming to an end. Consider what is sinking and its significance.

Ok. Ok. Ok. I don't put any real significance into this BUT I think there is some truth there. Weird. Very weird. I find no comfort in reading my "diagnosis" on a website but I do think God can use dreams to get our attention if He so chooses.

Just something to think about.

Trust

Proverbs 3:5-6 is familar to a lot of us. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths."

Have you ever noticed the next two verses?

"Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones."

Trusting him is a lot less stressful than trusting in ourselves!! "Healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones"...I will take that over the stress that comes with trusting in myself and things I think are best.

I know I have probably read that verse hundreds of times but today it was much needed!!

Trust.
It's that easy, right?!!?!
I wish.

Lets Go Krogering!

I normally go grocery shopping at night when the boys are in bed. I do this for several reasons...
1. I can't fit all three boys in a grocery buggy with all the groceries.
2. I love the peace and quiet and not feeling rushed.
3. I would rather not discipline while trying to make sure I have everything for the meals I have planned for the coming weeks.

Well, last night was grocery store night and I decided to take Brandon with me. He is big enough that he can walk with me...and stay with me! =) Kroger has the kiddie sized buggies and I love it!! He was able to shop with me...so fun!

The whole time he was so concerned about my list. When we got to the register, he unloaded his buggy then gave the scribbled list to the cashier. He said, "Here. Make sure we got everything." Oh dear! =) Never a dull moment with that boy! =)

My babies

Dalton was supposed to have surgery last Friday but was denied because of a slight wheeze. That has turned into such a blessing because that wheeze has turned into a double ear infection and he needs breathing treatments! I can't imagine how much worse he would be had they ignored the wheeze and gone through with the surgery.

He is on meds for the ear infections and has to have a couple breathing treatments a day...he hates it!!! =(

While we were waiting for the pharmacy to fill his meds we went on a lunch date!

I love my boys!!!!

Praying Dalton starts feeling better soon!!! It breaks my heart to see him so pitiful and not feeling good.

New Hair

We all need a little change every once in a while right?! =)

Well, on Monday I made a drastic change...well to me it's pretty drastic. I am not one that changes my hair color every other day. In fact, I have had the same color hair my whole life with the exception of a few highlights or lowlights.

I went from auburn to...

DARK BROWN!!!

It took a little getting used to but I love it!

I have the best hair dresser EVER!!! Thanks, Tiffany! =)

Interrupted Day

Dalton was born with hypospadias. If you don't know what that is then look it up. It's something that the doctors like to have done before a baby boys turn one. Dalton is 6 1/2 months and his surgery date was set for yesterday morning.

Grammy and Papa (Nathan's parents) drove in from Alabama to sit with Brandon and Carson so Nathan and I could take Dalton to Vanderbilt for his surgery. Nanny (my mom) drove over from Jackson to be at the hospital. Our pastor and a great friend from church came to the hospital to pray with us and be emotional support for this mama...all was UNDER CONTROL...

Then came the stethoscope! Dalton had an episode of bronchiolitis about seven weeks ago and apparently it wasn't completely gone. According to the anesthesiologist and surgeon Dalton had a wheeze which prevented them from going through with the surgery. Now, remember. I had everything under control...everyone was taken care of and I was ready to have this done!

I quickly had to let go of my agenda for the day and think about baby Dalton. When the surgeon said, "He has a wheeze", I knew. My agenda quickly shifted from MY AGENDA to Dalton's best interest. We left Vanderbilt and I was bummed.

Grammy and Papa had already planned to take Brandon and Carson back to Alabama so the boys are there for the weekend. I miss them so much when they are gone! Our day to day is so crazy and never a dull moment but I LOVE having them home...it's WAY too quiet without them! =) When they left to go to Alabama, Dalton and I took my mom to Tiffany's to surprise them with their NANNY!!! They were so excited and surprised to see her and we had a great/fun visit. My disappointing morning turned into a fun day!!

Sometimes an interrupted day can bring blessings!!!

The Journey

Abram (later called Abraham) was called by God to leave where he was and go. That was his instruction. Just go. Abram was to rely on God's direction and the promises he had been given. Genesis 12:4 says that Abram did as he was told. That's it. I laugh to myself as I think about how easy that sounds but hard it is to DO. God said go. Abram went. Obedience. Reliance.

Without going through the whole story to get to my point, I will summarize by saying that God was present and revealed himself to Abram. Genesis 12:7, "So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him." Again in verse 8, "He built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord."

Ok, in chapter 13...Abram and his family journeyed on from Egypt where they had witnessed God's protection and faithfulness. In verses 3-4, "And he journeyed on...to the place where his tent had been at the beginning between Bethel and Ai, to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord."

Abram returned to a place of spiritual significance. He returned to a place that he had experienced the realness and closeness of God.

As Nate and I consider our next move in ministry I am encouraged by this passage. I have been encouraged to return to a place of spiritual significance and experience His presence. The purpose would not be to push repeat and experience an emotion but to be reminded of the promises He has spoken and focus my heart on the truths of the Word and His words to us.

We have turned in our final lease at Grande View so in June of this year we will be moving from this location and going wherever He calls us. I say that through gritted teeth, "Wherever he calls us." I pray that I/we can be like Abram and GO with obedience and trust that he will provide and protect.

Pray with us as we continue this journey!

I'M BAAAACCCKKKK!!! =)

WOW!! Ok, so it's been A LONG TIME since my last blog!! We actually haven't had internet at our house in a while...we have relied on smart phones but we are back online!

I know I need to update tons of stuff like pictures of Dalton, our six-month old. He was born June 22, 2012 and has been a JOY to have in our family. Having three kids ages three and under has its challenges but we are so much more blessed than all those challenges combined.

We are still in Nashville working with the Grande View apartment complex (read previous blogs for info on that). Nathan also works full time with Alfa Insurance and I work part time at the Bellevue YMCA. We have learned a lot in the last 2+ years...We have learned about what it means to serve together...We have learned patience...We have relied on God's promises and His faithfulness.

As soon as I can get pictures from my phone to computer I will update pictures and info.

GLAD TO BE BACK!!! =)
