Down by the River

Faith Church is a church plant in Nashville and we meet at the YMCA. We don't have walls that make up Faith Church. We don't have our own building for offices; we don't have a playground or our own gymnasium; we don't even have a sancutary. But, we are a body of believers that make up the church and that reminder is even sweeter on days like Sunday.

We had our annual baptism celebration this past Sunday evening. Since our family moved to Nashville last October we hadn't attended a Down by the River Celebration. What a blessing!

The whole service was worshipful and a time of celebration but there was one thing that was done that was very meaningful. Before each person got baptized they faced the congregation and gave their testimony of how God saved them from their sin and drew them to Himself. As each person stood in the baptismal river waters someone on the bank read Scripture over them. The person reading was a parent, close friend, or spouse which made it very personal and emotional.

We serve an awesome God and it was great to see evidence of His work in the lives of others.

As you can tell the boys had a great time at the river. In fact, Brandon has asked a couple times since, "Play in the river?"

Lovely Saturday

Yesterday was an amazing day. We went and worked out in the morning and then ran a few errands before going home. I had one project I wanted to get done before putting the boys down for naps and that was to get the screened in patio cleaned off so they could play out there. The weather was GORGEOUS! It was a little warm but there was a ncie breeze and the humidity was definitely bearable.

So, the patio was cleaned off and the boys and I took great naps. We decided to go to the park yesterday which was a great idea. The boys love being outside and it was a fun family outing.

We got home in time for kickoff to the Titans game. WOO HOO I am so excited it's football season! I was cheering like it was the Super Bowl or something. Nathan kept saying, "Meg. Calm down. It's preseason." Whatever. It's football season. I AM EXCITED!!! =)

The boys were in desperate need of baths after playing outside the majority of the day. They LOVE playing outside and it's a good thing they LOVE baths too!

Brandon loves laying in the bubbles when Carson gets out of the bathtub. Goofball.

What a great family day!

Crazy Day

The boys woke up this morning with clear eyes and noses - no snot woo hoo!! So, I made plans to go work out since I hadn't been in a WEEK!! Ugh. I got the boys dressed and fed and went to Zumba.

I am still a little wheezy and I have lost my voice (Nathan is thankful, I am sure lol) but I feel fine. Apparently, you're supposed to be able to breathe when you do intense cardio work outs! =) I made it about forty five minutes and was d-u-n DONE! I stayed for the last fifteen minutes but I was worthless.

I decided to take the boys to the park afterwards. We have been shut up in the house all week so it was so nice to be outside. It was even nicer to have happy babies!

By the time we left the park it was about 10:45. It was starting to get hot so we loaded up and headed home. My plan was to take a shower, fix lunch, and then let them play for a few minutes before putting them down for naps at 1:00. Apparently, our van had a different plan. And I didn't like it!

Fortunately, it broke down when we were on our road. We were about 1/2 to 3/4 mile from home so it wasn't a TERRIBLE situation. I am thankful I had the stroller with me, too! UNfortunately, it was HOT and the walk was 100% uphill. Again, I am thankful I had the stroller but pushing fifty seven pounds of babies uphill is not the ideal work out! =) Reminder: I am a wheezing mess that barely survived my first day back to Zumba and now I am pushing my boys up this hill quite a ways. I am very thankful for my work out discipline (obsession to some hahaha) because I wasn't out of breath! hahahahaha hey, I was proud of myself.

We got home at 11:30 and my plans were carried out. Carson took a GREAT nap which I am so thankful for. Brandon, on the other hand, did not want to go to sleep. So, I put him in my bed and decided to lay down for a few minutes. It took him quite a while to fall asleep but he ended up taking a decent nap and I got some rest too. It's been a long week for everyone so I was thankful for the time. Plus, I haven't napped with Brandon since I was pregnant with Carson so I enjoyed the cuddle time with my little man.

Again, Nate was there to take care of us. He took a couple hours off work this afternoon to have the van towed and take care of things at the car repair shop. They won't been looking at the van until morning so we still don't know what's wrong with it but we are all home safe and sound!! ...and I got Publix sushi for dinner! =)

I am so glad everyone is feeling better and back to normal!

In Sickness and In Health

Today was a LONG day! I woke up feeling a little under the weather and it only got worse as the day went on. The boys have been "icky" since Sunday so I took them to the doctor. Diagnosis: Double ear infection in both boys. Ugh.

This was Brandon this morning...lethargic, little appetite...not normal for my little man!

And Carson...just pitiful. Brandon had the gunk too but not near as bad. It gives "little booger" (what I call Carson) a whole new meaning! =)

After the doctor's appointment we came home, ate lunch, and played for a few minutes before naptime. My hope was that I could lay down for a little while. Yeah right. Brandon took forever to go to sleep. By the time he fell asleep I was afraid Carson was going to wake up within the half hour, so no rest for Mommy. That's ok. I got stuff done but with a major headache and lots of coughing.

They took two rounds of medicine today and by bedtime they were almost back to normal. I am expectant and hopeful that they will wake up "gookless" and in GREAT moods! =) I am scared my expectations might not be met but I can hope, right?!

I am so thankful for Nate! He stayed home from church tonight so he could entertain the boys and I could get a little down time. I laid on the couch most of the night which was VERY helpful. Thank you, Nathan! You are the BEST!

I had to post this video of Nathan and Brandon playing football tonight. So precious! Do we have a future Vol on our hands? =)

VBS Slideshow

I tried to post this video with the VBS post the other day but it wasn't working...or I wasn't doing something right. Anyway, here it is! (There is a song that comes on about 3 pictures in so adjust your volume.)

Big Apple Adventure!

Our church does a one day Vacation Bible School...yes, ONE DAY! =) For those of you that have been involved with VBS know that a lot goes on during a normal bible school week so to cram it all into one day could be difficult. I said "could be." Directing VBS wasn't stressful or difficult because I had an AMAZING team of volunteers that made it a stress free, fun day. Thanks to all of you that helped!!

I was the director for our VBS that took place on Saturday. We started registration at 8:00 and our worship rally started at 8:30. We did the normal rotations (crafts, missions, music, recreation) and even ate lunch! Yes, it was a full day for sure but we had a great time! We ended the day at 3:00 with our final worship rally and then moved to a room with inflatables and games. We had several visitors so it was great meeting new families and seeing some of them at church Sunday morning!

Here are a few pictures from the day...

The Gospel was presented and the kids had a great time. We achieved our goals and had fun doing it!
