Always Enough

Our van is back in the shop (yes, again) so my amazing, awesome, wonderful friend, Cindy, is letting us borrow her car. The Casting Crowns CD was in her CD player when I got it and I have been listening to this song over and over. It's been a while since I listened to this CD so I had forgotten about the power of this song. Awesome!

A Whole New World

Carson got tubes today!!! woo hoo!! Here's to hoping that everything heals correctly and he doesn't have to have tubes again...EVER! =)

We had to be at the hospital at 6:00 this morning and he couldn't eat or drink anything until after his little surgery. He did fine until about 7:00 and then he was mad!!

They had a wagon at the hospital so I pulled him around in that as a way to take his mind of food. It worked!

Everyone told me the procedure only took about five minutes but it didn't matter when the nurse took him from me to take him back to surgery. Whether it was going to be five minutes of five hours, it was sad. Yes, I teared.

In recovery, he drank two sippy cups of juice and then he was ready to go! =) He was so thirsty. There is a Krispy Kreme next door to the hospital so I drove through and got donuts. Hmmmmm fresh donuts from Krispy Kremes are the best! Brandon stayed at Tiffany's last night so we went to get him and deliver donuts to the Hollis clan. Thank you, Tiffany, for keeping Brandon for me!!! I know he had a blast and it was a huge help!!

Carson took a 3 1/2 hour nap this afternoon and has been great since. He hasn't pulled at his ear one single time and I haven't had to walk around with kleenex to wipe his snotty nose! Yay!!

That Kind of Day

Ok, so I won't list every detail of my day but it was looonnnggg! Nathan's car was in the shop today (yes, we have car issues...) so I took him to work and picked him up tonight. By the time I picked him up I was exhausted. Carson didn't sleep well last night and neither one of them napped well today so...by the time 5:00 rolled around I was beyond tired.

Nathan is so sweet!! I planned on coming home and making quesadillas for dinner. Not hard. Time consuming and involved clean up. We ended up at IHOP. What a great way to end the day!

When we got home it was time for baths. Nathan cuts Brandon's hair so he took care of that before bathtime. Carson was not happy that he was left out of the party!

Nathan got some good cuddle time while Carson had his breathing treatment. Precious baby boy!

I am a blessed woman! Thank you Nathan!!! Love you!

This is the Song That Never Ends...

Expect it's not a song. It's an ear infection!

I took Carson to the doctor this morning and he has yet another ear infection. Whatever funk he has spread to his lungs so he is on breathing treatments too. I am SO over it! We have an appointment with the ENT (ear nose throat doctor) on Wednesday morning so hopefully tubes are in his future soon!

He fell asleep during his breathing treament. Bless his little heart!!

He is on antibiotics and I am doing breathing treatments at home. Luckily, he handles the treatments well!

GO VOLS

I know. I know. The Vols didn't win on Saturday against Florida but we still wore our UT gear and sang "Rocky Top." Well, the boys didn't sing Rocky Top but they did say, "Go Vols" and throw their hands up in touchdown pose. Cuties! =)

Nathan is from Alabama so until we convert him to become a Vol, we are a divided house. Boo! Even though he didn't put on orange and white, he did cheer for Tennessee Saturday. Otherwise he would have ended up somewhere else watching the game.

O What a Beautiful Morning!

Today has been a gorgeous day and we took advantage of it.

We left the Y at 10:30, picked up lunch, and went to the park.

He loves to "run run run"

He loves to swing...we don't know those people but he let them know he wanted a turn =)

After the park, I had to go by the store. They are so good at the store because they can ride in the little car. I love the look on Carson's face in this picture! =)

They played oustide at the Y this morning, then we went to the park...when we got home from the store it was naptime and they went right to sleep.

I love my boys!!!

I Have Created A...

I have created a...
You be the judge.

Since Brandon was a baby I have sung the clean up song when I pick up toys or even fold laundry. You might know the song, "Clean up clean up everybody clean up. Everybody everywhere. Everybody do your share." Since he was a crawler he would push books to me or put toys in his toy box. Today he is a great little helper by putting dirty clothes in his laundry basket and fixing the kitchen mat when it's out of place. LOL.
I even have a happy little song I sing when I make up the bed! "Mommy make the bed, mommy make the bed. Hi Ho the derry-o Mommy make the bed." hahahaha and Brandon sings right along with me...Carson has caught on and will be singing too, I am sure!

Here's where you are the judge.
Yesterday I got in the shower after putting them down for naps and when I got out I heard Brandon screaming...not crying, screaming. I have no idea how long he had been doing that since I was in the shower but it definitely is not normal naptime behavior. So, I went into his bedroom. He is sitting up in his bed with tears on his face and says, "Mommy fix it!!" Bless. His pillow (which is really his favorite blanket folded up) was crooked. It wasn't unfolded or anything but it wasn't folded perfectly straight. He wanted me to "fix it." So, I refolded it and laid it back in his bed. He went to sleep.

Have I created a monster?
Have I created a little boy that notices messes and will be my helper?

I will go with the latter!! =)

Made Me Glad

We had this song in our wedding because it was so true of what we could say about God in our lives individually. It has remained of my favorites.

I listen to Pandora during my daily Bible reading and it came on today. I love that it focuses on who HE is in our lives as HIS children. He is our shield, strength, portion, deliverer, shelter, strongtower, and very present help in time of need. How powerful!

Brothers/Buddies

As the boys are getting older it's so much fun to watch them play together. Carson thinks Brandon is the funniest thing ever and it's hilarious to hear him belly laugh at his big brother and best friend. We are SO blessed!

Here are a couple pictures that I have taken this week...

Day with the Hollis Crew

This past week the boys and I went to spend time with the Hollis crew. The boys love playing with their cousins which is fine with me! It gives Tiffany and I time to hang out!

Even their dog, Gizmo, was worn out by the time we left! =)

Thanks for a great day, Tiffany and kiddos!

Labor Day

I know, I know! I am a week late. Believe it or not, I didn't take any pictures the whole weekend of Labor Day!!! Yeah, it's true. Well, I did take a few with my phone...

Friday night we had dinner with our friends, Brad and Laurel. Brandon found Laurel's bike helmet and thought it was the coolest thing ever. He wanted to take it home. =)

On Saturday morning I went to my regular Zumba class and then we drove to Jackson for the weekend. This is the only picture I took...bad Meg, I know. My mama makes some really yummy homemade iced coffee. It was a great treat Saturday afternoon.

Mimi, Daddy Bill, and Uncle Lawrence came over for dinner and the UT game Saturday night. We hadn't seen them in a few months so it was great to see them for a few hours!

We went to church Sunday morning then met up with the fam for lunch. When Brandon was little he loved to eat lemons and he could do so without making a face. Carson loved eating them but his faces were priceless. This is the best picture I could get.

Sunday afternoon Nathan and I went on a DATE!! Woo hoo!! It had been way too long! My parents were so sweet to watch the boys for us so we could go to a matinee movie and dinner. Nathan is not much of a movie watcher but he said he would go with me to see "The Help" since I liked the book so much. Precious. After the movie we went to dinner at Lonestar which was yummy! Thank you, Mama and Daddy!!

We left to come back to Nashville Sunday evening so that we could enjoy the holiday at home. And that's exactly what we did. Nathan let me sleep in Monday morning which was amazing...he is so sweet! It rained most of the day so we didn't really get out but that's ok. We had a relaxing day with our little boogers!

Doctor, Doctor!

Yesterday was check-ups for both boys! Their appointment was at 2:00 so I had to decide how that would work with naps. They usually go down between 12:30 and 1:00 and sleep until about 3:00. Well, obviously that wasn't going to work so I kept them awake and entertained until 1:30.

We left the Y at 10:30 and I took them to the Monkey's Treehouse until 11:30. They LOVE to play there! There were several kids there but there were two little boys that were Brandon and Carson's age. The Mama asked how far apart Brandon and Carson are and I told her thirteen months. As always, there is a small gasp and an "oh my" but she told me that hers were sixteen months apart. In my mind, anything under two years apart can make things interesting. Anyway, we ended up having great conversation and we exchanged tips about potty training, napping (her boys don't nap at the same time which is vital to my day...i love that they nap at the same time), eating, etc.

We went by the store on the way home which put us being back home around noon. The boys ate lunch and played for a while before I started getting them ready to go to the doctor.

Suprisingly, neither one of them fell asleep in the car on the way there. That's probably because I was singing silly songs and ABC's to keep them awake! =)

Everything went well at their appointment. Carson's ears are still pink even after just finishing a round of antibiotics. So, we are on one more round before going back for a check-up in a couple weeks. Tubes are in our near future, I am sure. He has had five ear infections in eight months. Poor baby!

This stool was their entertainment until the doctor came in

Brandon weighs 34 lbs 12 oz and is 36 inches long. Carson weights 22 lbs 8 oz and is 32 inches long. Both are healthy boys and we are so thankful for that!!!

Catching Up

Ok, so this week I have been hooked on "The Help." That's no excuse for not staying caught up with the blog...ok, it is. If you haven't read the book, it is SO good. Nathan and I are going to see the movie this weekend so I had to finish the book. I got it from a friend at church on Sunday and will finish it today. Naptime has been sweet this week -- cuddled on the couch with a good book! Thanks, Cindy!! =)

As I mentioned in a previous post, our van broke down and had to stay in the shop for a couple days. So, Monday I didn't have a car. I planned a full day of stuff for the boys and I to do around here and it was going to be ok -- walk to the playground, play with play-doh, read books, color, etc. It wouldn't have been much different than any other day except we wouldn't be going to the Y which usually takes up about two hours of the morning.

Well, I am so blessed and thankful!! My in-laws had been in Indianapolis for the weekend and they were on their way back to Alabama on Monday. They decided to drive through Nashville and see us...and let me use their car to go to a Zumba class! Thank you, Grammy Carol and Papa Walter! I usually clean on Mondays so I did that as normal but twice as fast because I had someone to help entertain the kids. What a blessing!

Brandon was excited to show them pictures from the river

Our van was ready that night so Tuesday everything was back to normal!

Here are a few pictures from our week:
